Seeing an online GP in Dublin: a guide for Leinster

The Luas is packed, your throat is raw, and a waiting room sounds miserable. Here is how an online GP in Dublin and the rest of Leinster works with BookMyDoc.

It is a wet Tuesday in Dublin. Your throat is raw. The Luas is full. An hour in a waiting room already feels like too much.

That is when a lot of people look up an online GP in Dublin. Some type online doctor Ireland and hope a phone or video slot is still free. You want a real GP and a clear next step. If treatment is suitable, it can go to the pharmacy you already use. No trek across town for that part.

BookMyDoc is a nationwide phone and video GP with IMC-registered doctors. Dublin city, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath, Louth, and the rest of Leinster use the same calendar. The rest of Ireland does too.

If symptoms are urgent or life-threatening, skip the form. Call 112 or 999, or go to the nearest emergency department.

Book an appointment if a slot is there. Skim how it works and pricing first if you want the layout.

What an online GP in Dublin visit is

You are not talking to a chatbot. You book a slot, say what is going on, then speak with a GP by phone or video.

People also search online doctor Ireland, virtual doctor Dublin, and telehealth Leinster. Same job. A proper consult at a distance, when it is clinically suitable.

The GP listens, asks questions, and decides next steps. Advice only. A sick note after assessment. Or treatment sent to a pharmacy you name, if that is safe.

You pay for the consultation. Not for a guaranteed certificate or medicine. We do not sell or ship medicines online.

Who this Leinster guide is for

If you live in Dublin or elsewhere in Leinster, this is for you. Commuters. Parents after school pickup. Students in a shared house who cannot face a bus when they are dizzy.

The booking flow is the same if you happen to be in Cork or Galway that day. Keep your registered GP for ongoing care and HSE pathways.

Phone or video

Phone is quick and private when the story is clear and the GP mainly needs a good history.

Video helps if seeing you matters. A rash, swelling, a throat. You join from your appointment card once the clinic adds the Meet or Zoom link.

Neither format promises a note or pharmacy treatment. Both are real visits. More in video vs phone GP consultation.

What you can ask about

People book an online GP in Dublin for everyday illness, a medical review or follow-up consultation, a sick note after assessment, or fit-to-work questions. Weight-loss or hair-loss reviews belong on those matching services.

Not every medicine can be issued after a remote visit. If treatment is suitable, the GP can send it to a local pharmacy.

A visit from Dublin or the rest of Leinster does not replace the GP you are registered with. Online GP and your registered GP in Ireland explains what stays with your own practice.

A typical weekday daytime visit is usually €35.99. Evenings are usually €40.00. Weekends are usually €40.00.

On weekdays, the standard window is typically 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Ireland time. Evening hours are 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Weekend hours are 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Slots before or after that are after-hours. Saturday and Sunday use the weekend rate all day.

Fees can change. The amount on the booking screen is what you pay for that slot. Check pricing before you tap pay. A longer breakdown is in how much an online GP costs in Ireland.

After your visit

If you need a document, check My Certificates once the clinic shares it. DSP and Illness Benefit forms can be picky. Some still need your registered GP.

If the GP sends treatment to a pharmacy, collect it when they say it is ready. Many Irish pharmacies accept Healthmail.

If they want you in person or in ED, go. A video from Tallaght does not replace that.

Frequently asked questions

Is an online GP in Dublin real care?

You are talking to a GP registered with the Irish Medical Council. If the concern is suitable for remote care, they can help. If it is not, they will point you to face-to-face or emergency care.

Can I get a sick note the same day?

Often, if a slot is free and the GP agrees after assessment. Same-day is not a promise. Paying does not buy the paper.

What about Illness Benefit forms?

Some Department of Social Protection paperwork still needs your registered GP. Check before you book.

Do I have to live in Dublin city?

No. Telehealth for Leinster, and the rest of Ireland, uses the same booking. You need a phone or video setup and an Ireland time slot.

What if I feel worse before the slot?

If new red-flag symptoms start, call 112 or 999 or go to ED. Do not wait for the scheduled call.
